- You will be focusing on one of the articles detailing a real life situation related to language from the list below
- Google Translate: 10 reasons why it's no match for learning a language
- Why H is the most contentious letter in the alphabet
- More than words: Are 'emoji' dumbing us down or enriching our communications?
- Comedy without borders: Eddie Izzard and the language of standup
- Autocorrect 4 eva? Technology won't kill off spelling and grammar
- What Paddington tells us about German v British manners
- Spend some time reading the article quietly to yourself and then complete the following tasks
- Write a brief description of it (20- 40 words)
- Note any other Ways of Knowing (other than language) or Areas of Knowledge it touches on
- Construct 2-4 knowledge questions linked to the real-life situation in the article. Knowledge questions are questions that are open ended, leading to discussion and could be considered from different perspectives. See here for more about knowledge questions
- Now compare your description, WoKs, AoKs, & KQs with the rest of your group. Finalize a group version that can go into the discussion box below and onto your TOK wiki page.
- You will now break out into different groups where you will be the expert on your particular real-life situation. You will also listen to other people feedback about the one they looked at.
